If you answered yes, you’re not alone. These very questions have surfaced frequently as we all adapt to the continuous changes in healthcare. While I was facilitating a conversation at the Community Learning Center in an English Language Learner Class on wellbeing, similar questions began to be shared.

Breathe_Refreshed_CampaignMower Refreshed is committed to promoting and supporting tobacco-free living in Mower County. Why Breathe Refreshed? The health benefits are plentiful! There is no shortage of “No smoking” and stop smoking signs and promotions. This campaign is focused on the gains of creating a new life habit vs what those who currently smoke would lose if they quit.

We will be campaigning for our community to Breathe Refreshed this March.

The Breathe Refreshed campaign will take place Sunday, March 6th thru Saturday, March 19th. During that time period we will be showcasing local stories and local reasons to breathe refreshed, research results, and resources for community members who wish to take the first steps to living smoke free.


The Art of Reframing Wellness

picture framesReframing is central to wellness. How you and I frame experiences or circumstances has a direct impact on our personal wellness and the outcomes, good, bad, or otherwise. Why is the “art” of reframing worth your time to explore? The health of our communities depends on it.

The individual choices of how we frame situations in a community add up to a larger sum that reflects what is valued and the direction that community will inevitably move. In regards to health and wellness I’d like to share an example of how the reframing of an individual’s behavior impacted not only his own health but those of his tenants who he rented apartments to. It communicates how the single reframe impacts the sum outcome.
